how I .. pack

Going to NYC you have to travel light as you have to haul your bag around sometimes more than you'd like to. This trip was a little tough to plan for weather wise as it was going to be a little different each day, cold and raining and sunny and humid all packed into 5 days. I tried to pack a mix of items with different weights and material as well.

Jewelry that goes with everything plus 2 statement pieces:

//6 outfits with a few modifications that could be made (1 more than days I'd be there, knowing I had 2 girls to share clothes with and that I would probably be buying a few things).
//cross-body bag so your shoulder doesn't get tired and everything is safe and secure

extra basics that go with anything and everything and add to an outfit

monday inspiration

It was a wet, gray, dreary weekend in Portland. Thankfully, the sun is shining a little bit this morning which helps a Monday morning but this day needed a few more inspiring things to start the week:

How is your Monday?!

organized: jewelry

New house, new room, new rules. I've got to say that it's been more challenging than I would have thought to move into a new home and not put everything back the way it was. I laid out all my decor on the ground and really forced myself to get rid of the things I didn't like anymore.

I really want this home to truly be us and part of that is making sure the things we own are us! In my old bedroom I had a black mirror on my dresser but felt like it was too dark against the furniture. I stole this white mirror from my vanity that I don't really have enough room for. I like the way it makes it look more feminine.

The second "new" decision I made was to display all of my jewelry in one place. I have a few cute trays and boxes that I've collected from my grandma or thrifted and displayed them all out! Nothing revolutionary but I like being able to see everything well and not have it look cluttered!

NYC day 2: highline park

We had heard so much about Highline Park and couldn't wait to check it out. It's a mile long and runs between 10th and 11th Avenues. There was so much to look at and was so fun to have perspective on the city be at a different height. There were places to sit, get your feet wet, food carts & treats to eat. I would highly recommend it if you visit NYC!

its official...

I finally have an iPhone..
After fighting it for a while, I finally gave in. I'm loving the organized and clean look so much, not to mention finally getting to have emojis (pretty sure my friends are sick of seeing them already) and to actually get iphone group messages!!

Now I need help: what are your favorite apps?
And has anyone found a place to buy cute cases for the 5?
