Christmas tree hunt

one of my favorite things about living in Oregon is cutting down our Christmas tree every year. There are a ton of farms just 15 minutes from our house out in the country. The last few years we have gone with some of our best friends and made a fun day out of it!

Do you get to cut down your Christmas tree?

date night

Friday night Brian and I ventured to the east side to grab some pizza. For some reason it's hard to get up and out on a Friday after we've both had hard, busy weeks. I forced myself this time by getting all ready to go when I picked up Brian from work so I couldn't tempt myself with the couch.

We set out for Sellwood Pizza Kitchen only to find out it is not longer there.. awkward.
Luckily we found Laurelwood down the street and decided to check it out

my hot date that usually looks like this:

gluten free pizza. thank you Portland.

and of course our night has to end with blizzards & red box (we rented Young Adult  ... wouldn't recommend it)

how was your weekend?!

Portland Bloggers Meet Up

Had a blast at brunch last weekend!! I am not going to lie I was a little nervous going that morning, thank goodness my sister, is also a blogger so I drug her along with me. Not sure what I was nervous about because I saw some familiar faces when I arrived and got to meet some new friends! I hope to get to see them again soon and stay in touch.

We went to Tasty n Sons which was great. I felt a little convicted about not leaving my suburb enough to explore all that Portland has to offer (even though I have lived here for 20 years...). Loved this fun brunch site!!

From left to right: Lauren (the little things we do), Anna (freckled fashionista),Laura (back-handsprings through bridgetown), Becca (life @ 1521), Nicole (my little blue bag),Abi (vanilla and lace), Sara (glitter & grace), Nicole (nicole marie who?!), Karisa (a beautiful mess), Olga (vintage pretty), Domnika (domnika's nest), Denise (all things new)

Hopefully we'll do another meet up soon and meet even more Portland bloggers!!

feeling a little down in the dumps..

about the state I love: Oregon. It's been a sad summer with very little sun and nice warm days. I miss being able to sit outside for meals, getting tan, taking advantage of the beautiful outdoor activities, walking around downtown portland in shorts a tank... So I've decided to do a little tribute to the state that I love SO much. If you have never been here.. you really should visit. Portland is INCREDIBLE rain or shine!

this couch
this backyard garden
this awesome fire pit space with room for lots of friends
this fabric
this Robin Damore wall. she rocks and is so talented
this wine rack
these french doors in the master with a tiny balcony
this amazing eating space
(this whole house was amazing and my pictures do it no justice)
this rug
this seating area (not a fan of the color mix)
again, more of the amazing house I can't do justice to
those framed windows and pillows

anyone else in Portland check out the Street this year? what were your thoughts?!

rainy days

We're back to some rain in Portland the last few days. I do love the rain. I love the sound of it on the roof, I love how it hits the window and runs down, I love the smell of the clean rain and air when it's warmer outside. The rain is cozy, it makes me want to be in my sweatpants, with my tea, watching some TV. The rain is also cleansing to me. It feels depressing... and let's you be depressed in it.. which is cleansing?  I love the rain. BUT I am also so ready for the sun to be out to stay.

I was watching some Oregonians around Nike campus the other day and realizing a few things about our relationship with rain

1. Umbrellas- most of us have them, as in own them, but never make use of it! It's too time consuming to bring it with us, open it up when necessary and then close it up when finished.

2. Rain Coats- similarly to umbrellas we all own them (actually I didn't own one until I had to walk to and from class in college outside.. in the rain... ) but they're too hard to wear all of the time. Especially in the spring- one second it is raining and the next it is so sunny... who can plan for that kind of weather? Easier to not wear one and risk being warm and needing to carry it. (gosh I'm lazy)

3. We act like it's not even there most of the time... We don't even run to and from place to place -- we just walk... and let the rain get us wet.

Got to love Portland!!!!!!!!

Oba!

I love the Happy Hour at Oba! The margaritas are fabulous and so are so many things on the menu. My favorites are the grilled baja chicken tacos as well as the tostada. It's not necessarily the cheapest happy hour around but it is a lot cheaper than going to that restaurant for a regular meal. If you want "fancy" restaurant food at a not so fancy price- Oba! is a great place to go! And the portions are good sized as well. Check it out if you haven't and let me know what you think!!
(favorite margarita choices: traditional lime, guava and mango)

Happy Hour Times:
4:00 - 6:30 p.m.,daily
late night happy hour: 9 p.m. - close, daily
all day sunday
