a DIY

Love this idea! This is great for any drawer that needs things to stay in place. I love drawer organizers but sometimes you can't find the right sizes for what you want and let's be honest they aren't always cheap for what they are.

Step 1: Measure the depth of your drawer
Step 2: Find any box top, measure & cut
Step 3: cover with cute paper or paint it or use magazine by gluing it down
Step 4: arrange and enjoy!

diy headboard: using a door

Source: google.com via Olivia on Pinterest

Brian and I will need a headboard for our bed once we find a house to move into. Thinking something like this would be fun and cheap!

Has anyone ever made one before? Would love to hear about it!

terrarium fail

Source: google.co.uk via Laura on Pinterest

SO cute and fun right!?
They had them at a few of the Street of Dreams houses that I loved
IMAG0215

BUT my inspiration came from my friend we stayed with in Santa Barbara:

IMAG0547

The Supplies:

1. Container
(my fail: getting a cute container but bottom it too narrow)
2. River Rocks
3. Plant Charcoal
(my fail: went to 200 stores before I found this- if you live in Portland, Cornell Farms has it)
4. Moss
5. Soil
6. Plants

The Steps:

#1: Rocks
(my fail: for my container I probably should have put the soil on the bottom)

#2: Charcoal (necessary so that the plants don't mold or smell)
(my fail: the rocks weren't supportive enough as a layer so the charcoal fell through... also I learned later that you can crush up the charcoal and put it in with the soil)

#3: Moss
(my fail: it looks cute now but when the soil went on top it covered a lot of it up)

#4 & #5 Soil & Plants
(my fail: the jar was super hard to plan the succulents in there and I ended up breaking a lot of them...)

Final product

(my fail: you can't really see any of the layers or the plants that well with the top on... )

I guess for my first time it wasn't THAT bad. Needless to say I will be doing things a little different next time!

Has anyone else tried to make them? How did it go for you?

organize by olivia project #1

some shots from the wedding I coordinated a few weeks back--

lots of prep happening

super cute invites the bride had made by an artist who makes posters for bands!
great idea, huh? those faces are the bride & groom :)

some flowers for decor that the bride's co-workers helped her make during one of her showers
cute & helpful idea for a shower!

another brilliant DIY idea by the bride: she collected lots of class bottles and jars
then had sticker strips made
I took the stickers and made different patterns with all of the colors for the center pieces

some DIY mustaches for the Photo booth Prop Box!

another quick DIY for the extra invites--
putting them on sticks to then put in vases or different pots & buckets around the reception site

FLOWER PREP

only spent about $60 by going to Costco the day before the reception

I prepped them all the day before just in case I needed to buy more

the done ones:

transportation was an issue-- I wouldn't recommend a box like this
it worked, i put a towel down at the bottom in case there were any spills
there were and it worked out fine but the rest I put in buckets and it was much safer & easier!

all out at the reception site ready to go on tables!

a somewhat done project:

wish I could have gotten more pics from around the reception- but there was a wonderful photobooth
everyone had a blast. I made a prop box with the following:

5 sombreros
2 boas
4 mustaches on a stick
lei
red skirt
chalkboard with chalk to write messages

YAY fabulous night.
