warning: shallow post-needed a change

I decided on a whim last week that I needed a hair change. I've had the same cut for a few years now and was ready to try something different. I love short hair on other people but have always hated it on myself because I feel like I look like I'm 10. I was inspired by these pictures of Olivia Palermo and her long bob and thought I'd try it.

here is a little before and after from yesterday. I look super tired but that's ok.


Now it's going to be a challenge styling it in a way everyday that makes me look mature as opposed to immature. This morning I used my Hana flat iron to curl a few pieces. Any short hair styling advice?

straight straight straight

some of you may have noticed my diva straight hair (as my sister would say) for my first day of work. I am absolutely LOVING my new flat iron! Its the best. It's been so hard for me to find a great one that I love. My thick hair leaves me straightening my hair for way too long and leaves lots of tangles in it.

This Hana Titanium Flat Iron that I got c/o Misikko was not like that at all! It heated up really fast and straightened my hair in under 5 minutes! SO pleased with it. It also came with some great tools- Hair Shine, Heat proof pouch, something for me to rest in on on my counter so I don't ruin anything around it with the heat and some other goodies! I guess I never showed you all pictures of my hair... I sort of feel like you can't get a good view of it unless you walk around my whole head :) but here is a little shot of it. She did highlights underneath my hair so that my roots wouldn't have to be touched up and then she used a weave technique so that the bottom of my hair would look light brown, the blonde mixed with my natural hair color creates a different color. I love it. I could go for some more I think but it was a great start and so exciting!!

I have NEVER done anything fun with my hair at all..

I don't like the SUPER harsh ones, but maybe start out with just a little highlight underneath my hair? I have always taken pride in never coloring my hair... but hey, what are principles for if not to be broken, eh? (such a false statement for those of you who know me.. "rules control the fun"-monica.)
