exodus 13:17-18

"It so happened that after Pharaoh released the people, God didn't lead them by the road through the land of the Philistines, which was the shortest route, for God thought, "If the people encounter war, they'll change their minds and go back to Egypt." So God led the people on the wilderness road, looping around to the Red Sea. The Israelites left Egypt in military formation." (message version)

We talked about this verse on Thursday night at Bible study and it has stuck with me all weekend. I always say that God knows better than us. He is smarter, He sees more, He knows the future. Why would we NOT want to let someone like that lead us? Why do we think we know better? and want to do it on our own? God knew that the Israelites would be insecure if they took the shorter road, He wanted to save them of that so He took a longer way. I bet when they were on their journey they were frustrated with God. "Why is this taking so long?" "I'm tired" "I want to get there now" ... is this not us everyday!? We ask these same questions about our life. Asking God what He is doing. Let's stop asking and just trust that He KNOWS BETTER THAN US.
